Now is the right time to start writing with a copybook! You can choose from two types, according to two methods of reading: 1) a traditional phonics method or 2) a phonemic awareness/whole word method. You will want to practice writing, dictations, and homework with the “yellow workbook” (Workbook A5 for the 1st grade). And what about reading? Along with the teaching of the Comenia Script® writing, it is also possible to use a common syllable book for the analytical-synthetic method, which contains an older connected-letter handwriting style. The fact that children get acquainted with connected writing in this way also has its advantages – they will learn to read this writing gradually.
To teach reading in the genetic method, the textbook K výuce čtení v genetické metodě je na 1. pololetí připravena učebnice “Písmena s písničkou / Letters with a Song” is provided for the first half of the year, and contains the Comenia Script® writing font. In the 2nd half of the year, it is again possible to use a regular reading book for the 1st grade, which also contains connected handwriting forms.
